Maestro Controls

Overview
Maestro is the new suite of control systems from Cameron's Compression Systems. The Maestro suite contains a model that is sure to be in tune to your needs. The Maestro Legend replaces the Vantage 5.0 and provides comprehensive control of your Centrifugal compressor and can be configured to coordinate the operation of multiple compressors. The Maestro PLC utilizes an open architecture Allen Bradley PLC which enables you to use off-the-shelf components that match other panels in your plant. The Maestro EZ is an economic, easy to use, control system for basic compressor operation.

MAESTRO LEGEND
The Maestro Legend is the headliner of the Maestro suite. The Maestro Legend replaces the Vantage as the most efficient and reliable control system available. The Legend is designed specifically for centrifugal compressors. Over the life of a compressor, the Legend can save tens of thousands annually in operating costs.
  • Maintain plant pressure to within 1-2 PSI, which allows overall pressure reduction to improve efficiency and reduce air leakage losses saving energy dollars.
  • Maximizes compressor operating throttle range, increasing turndown and substantially reducing or eliminating wasteful compressor blow-off.
  • Compressor Networking controls multiple compressors as one coordinated system, optimizing all compressors to save energy.
  • Available Operation Scheduler automatically reduces system pressure during non-production periods, minimizing energy usage.
The Maestro Legend has a 640 x 480 pixel LCD display providing easy-to-read graphic display of operating conditions. With multi-language capability, including Spanish, French, German, Turkish, Chinese, Russian, and Portuguese, the Maestro Legend is readily configurable to local conditions.

MAESTRO EZ
The Maestro EZ is the standardized PLC solution with broad built-in capability designed for easy use. The Maestro EZ provides an economically attractive control system in concert with plant demands. The Maestro EZ is CE compliant. The Maestro EZ will provide the same robust performance as all of the Maestro Control Systems.

MAESTRO PLC
The Maestro PLC combines the power of Cameron's Compression’s knowledge of compressors with industry wide acceptance of Allen-Bradley programmable controllers.Panel DescriptionThe Maestro PLC is a unit control panel fully capable of integrating with a station/central controller and networked with other Maestro PLC controllers for system automation and monitoring. The Maestro PLC utilizes an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix L35E programmable controller in conjunction with an Allen-Bradley PanelView 700 Color display/keypad. These industry standard components ensure compatibility with the rest of your plant.

Hardware
  • Allen-Bradley Compact
  • Logix L35E with associated I/O Modules
  • Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 600 Human Machine Interface (HMI)
  • Ethernet switch and phone modem
  • 24Vdc instrument power supply
  • Misc. terminals and panel devices
  • START Pushbutton
  • STOP Pushbutton
  • RESET/SILENCE Pushbutton
  • EMERGENCY STOP Pushbutton
  • CONTROL METHOD selector switch
  • POWER switch
  • REMOTE/AUTOMATIC/MANUAL light
Allen-Bradley Compact
Logix L35EAllen-Bradley controllers are universally accepted throughout industry. The CompactLogix controller utilizes the same RSLogix 5000 software utilized by all of the Logix family of Allen-Bradley controllers. This means the Maestro PLC is easily configured by technicians familiar with Allen-Bradley controllers. It also means the Maestro PLC can be integrated into the plant network.

Compressor Control Methods
Maestro PLC is available in three control methods: Constant Pressure, Auto/Dual, and Mass Flow.
  • Constant Pressure is the recommended control method for maintaining the process pressure at a fixed level or for instances where there is minimal receiver volume. With this method the inlet valve is modulated to satisfy the system pressure set point. In cases of low demand, the control throttles back to the surge control line the control will modulate the inlet valve to prevent surge while maintaining system pressure. Under ideal field conditions, the system pressure can be held constant within 0.5 psi (0.03 bar), and both energy usage and atmospheric blow-off are minimized.
  • Auto-Dual is the most energy efficient method for maintaining a specific system pressure (within a 3-5 psi / 0.2 to 0.35 bar range). With this method, whenever capacity exceeds demand, the control system will throttle the inlet within the turndown range of the compressor to maintain the system pressure. If the surge control line is reached and system pressure is high the compressor unloads; if system pressure falls below the set point the compressor is automatically reloaded. The compressor operation pattern is LOAD-UNLOAD-RELOAD
  • Constant Mass Flow is a very specialized control method used when the key process operating parameter is mass flow rather than process pressure. The compressor always operates in a loaded condition.
MAESTRO DRI-CONTROLLER
